3D MetalPrinting Magazine recently released a blog post highlighting part orientation in additive manufacturing. Optimizing the orientation on the build plate can be difficult, but proper orientation optimizes support-structures, minimizes thermal distortion, reduces part completion time, and helps produce optimal parts.

Getting to the right orientation is tricky. Often there is no “right” orientation, only an optimized solution with tradeoffs made along the way.
